Their inheritance system is matrilineal, and children belong to their mother’s house (and thus also their mother’s moiety; traditionally, an Eagle always married a Raven, so children were always born of both moieties). The same is not necessarily true of their social structure and politics. Men are still expected to step up as leaders of their house and clan. Additionally, men are expected to help raise their sisters’ children and teach them the ways of the clan.
there’s a LOT of weird similarities between these people and the ainus from hokkaido. the tune and chanting, the dance moves and especially their clothing are very similar
The usage of the word Knight here is interesting. Knights are mostly/exclusive to most of European history post Roman era, and the concept of the Knight has been incredibly romanticized throughout the centuries and so our understanding of a Knight is not exactly that applicable to its historical counterpart. Calling Haida warriors Knights is extra interesting, and the only similarity I might see is that they’re both armored. I don’t know what Haida warriors code of conduct was, what their role in society was, what their socio-economic standing in society was, but these questions were important to generally define Knights in Medieval history.

The original Tlinget were copper colored, built & tall just like the settlers depicted them. These are Asian migrant slaves who replaced them & stole the culture.
I am Navajo, with descendants from many neighboring tribes but I have been to a tribal Summit from the White House in Washington DC this was similar to the songs they sang and had shared with us during the opening ceremonies on December 7th 2023
This is so different compared to the tribe where I’m at
