Looked like cwd, but looking at the comment you made that it made a recovery. Man, that’s something I didn’t even think was possible

That was probably caused by "intelligent" humans

Maybe that netting that he was tangled in in the beginning of the video

  7. @T_for_Texas on April 18, 2025 at 8:14 am

That’s a tough call. Do you put him down or give him a chance to heal? I’m glad to hear he healed up & got at least one more rut.

  8. @colbyvanhoy on April 18, 2025 at 8:16 am

Rut to bucks will beat another to death over a doe its just science like gramps always said for female of the species more deadly than the male

Wire fencing, must’ve been fairly highly placed fencing or was not as visible do to overgrowth but these animals are out 24/7 so got to be tough or they end up as a meal.

  12. @MarkCramlet on April 18, 2025 at 8:21 am

    Wire fence

  13. @173rdA on April 18, 2025 at 8:22 am

He’s looking for something to eat. Not bleeding, he will heal but he will look very different than the other deer. Be pretty interesting to see that buck in a year.

  14. @KLRKID650 on April 18, 2025 at 8:23 am

Barb wire, I would say a cougar but the gash is one big one instead of four smaller ones, maybe a big bear took a swipe at him

  15. @sleepthoughamostqruelandde1116 on April 18, 2025 at 8:24 am

I saw a stripper had a part on her like that one time😂🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

  16. @Redn87 on April 18, 2025 at 8:26 am

Right On!!! Dang that is sad. It looks like some barb wire fencing got wrapped around its neck.

  17. @NMPDipy on April 18, 2025 at 8:27 am

    A disease

  18. @georgemckenzie7524 on April 18, 2025 at 8:27 am

Looks like the skin around the neck was degloved like it was either hit a extremely janky way or a pack or wolfs

  19. @amandablackburn3756 on April 18, 2025 at 8:27 am

    Oh noooooo😢

  21. @jesuszubia6337 on April 18, 2025 at 8:30 am

Looks like he escaped public land 😂

  22. @patrick.walker6361 on April 18, 2025 at 8:33 am

Being that skinned up I wouldn’t want to shoot it! Most likely has a nasty infection! Dnr only only gives one permit if it’s gang green infected they don’t replace permits

  23. @twilightgardenspresentatio6384 on April 18, 2025 at 8:34 am

I’m gonna say poor trapping practices

  24. @margaretenoha5394 on April 18, 2025 at 8:35 am

  25. @Blazeetwa on April 18, 2025 at 8:35 am

    Wolves or coyotes

  26. @dorlalake8578 on April 18, 2025 at 8:40 am

Jesus Christ, was it bear territory?

  27. @KreigsMarine2 on April 18, 2025 at 8:41 am

I think it might have gotten caught in a fence, made it’s way free, but the injuries, as bad as they are, weren’t enough to kill that buck.

  28. @Countryerthanu on April 18, 2025 at 8:41 am

    Fighting

  29. @Choppalifestyle365 on April 18, 2025 at 8:42 am

    Wire!

  34. @ogopp7834 on April 18, 2025 at 8:47 am

What do you think? You seriously had to question and ask? I suppose you probably haven’t taken hunters education nor understand the responsibility as an outdoor sportsman of conservation fair chase fair game. Game management and conservation. You either put it down and tag it or call your local game department for advisement. Personally I work for my states conservation agency. And I would break man’s law here to honor God’s law of the right thing.

  35. @cyeez5323 on April 18, 2025 at 8:48 am

    A wire fence

  36. @KatieWells-k9s on April 18, 2025 at 8:53 am

I think it probably got in a fight with another male 😢

  37. @GarthRoland-c9x on April 18, 2025 at 8:55 am

    Snare

  38. @joeldavies2718 on April 18, 2025 at 8:56 am

That deer may be looking like he’s messed up at the moment, but this happened a little while ago and that deer will heal and survive 100% it’s during the winter time as well so is less likely to get an infection, that looks like it was caused by a bear or a mountain lion as they go for the neck to suffocate them

  39. @AspenWinn on April 18, 2025 at 8:56 am

I would say if he had an injury like that and he fought to survive he needs to live… And let mother nature take its course he’s either going to survive or he’s not but that’s not for you to decide.

  40. @joeldavies2718 on April 18, 2025 at 8:57 am

He will survive look at his body he’s in really good condition other than the nasty scrape he’s received from a bear or a mountain lion probably a bear I think he could have been caught in wire but if they are usually it kills them

  41. @terrymckenna8901 on April 18, 2025 at 8:58 am

Or should I say a snare

  42. @joshuaknapp7825 on April 18, 2025 at 8:58 am

    Ummm… Deer don’t feel Pain😂😂

  43. @KalobFortune on April 18, 2025 at 8:59 am

Probably a coyote or a mountain lion

  44. @Daddy_bank713 on April 18, 2025 at 8:59 am

Barb wire . Got caught around his neck. During the process of escaping, he tore his skin neck off . I can’t believe he was able to escape!!!! And yes what a stud STAG

  45. @danielduvall4154 on April 18, 2025 at 9:00 am

Looks like he was electrocuted somehow

  46. @DruryOutdoors on April 18, 2025 at 9:01 am

For everyone’s reference, this encounter didn’t take place in bow range where the hunter felt comfortable enough to make the shot. It’s also important to note that this was filmed in the fall of 2021. By the fall of 2022, this buck made a full recovery and was hunted but it never came together.

We simply wanted to share an example of how crazy tough these animals are and gather opinions on what y’all think caused the injury.
