Initially, she was interested in RV living, but after much discussion & research of alternative small house options, they landed on container homes. Their home is the Suite Tea model by @RelevantBuildings, built out of two 24’ and two 40’ shipping containers. They put it on a residential lot in a small coastal neighborhood in Washington. It took a little convincing, but their HOA and local municipality approved it. The first permitted shipping container home in the area!

This has got to be one of my favourite videos on all Tiny house channels here on YouTube! Everything about it is just so cozy and comforting, love the house layout and the bathrooms. And location is just fantastic! Lovely couple especially knowing that they are both teachers (I am a teacher as well for 20 years already). P.S. Tiny house expedition? Why do y’all show these houses that are clearly not tiny homes? 1,000 sq feet is a small home. There are tons of towns with houses in the 1,000 sq foot range 🤷♀️
Hubby and I have been married for 38+ years, and we live in the country in a 4 bed home. Our kids have been on their own for years now, and I’ve been wanting to downsize, so I’ve been researching tiny homes. Hubby isn’t into it so much. I’ve seen some beautiful homes that would be perfect. So for now, all I can do is dream!

I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind? What was the total square footage inside the home, how much insulation does it have, who is the company that built, delivered and set up your home, and does the total price include the foundation prep? I like this! My only concern is lightning and metal. How do you prevent a lightning strike onto your home from ruining your electrical wiring? Was conduit used?

I may need to check out Relevant Building for a container home. My dream is a U-shape made of 3 containers with a deck between them all. One container wing for my bedroom/sitting area with a bathroom. The base of the U-shape for a small kitchen and seating area, maybe a small bathroom with just a toilet and sink. Finally, the last container for a library (I own a couple thousand books) and craft area with a futon for guests. Since I’m disabled, this configuration would make cleaning fairly easy. Ah, dreams, these idle dreams!

The quilt on their bed is GORGEOUS. I love the outside color of their home. What a fantastic space to live in and so close to the beach, no less! They have the best kind of roommates. 🐈⬛😻

Excellent design for aging in place. I would like to see price comparisons with an exact size and finish of a stick built house, $300,000 is out of reach for many people.
What a sweet couple! This is how I think container homes make sense – keeping their honest form and keeping the layout simple.
Needing a toolshed is legit! I have my looms and spinning wheels and sewing, and they require space and time (not to mention the need for the mess)

Holy shit????!!!! $325,000????!!!! And HOA??!! This is unbelievable!!! It’s not worth it!! There’s got to be a huge monthly payment, and HOA monthly fees!! I knew it was going to be an expensive cost! I shouldn’t have watched, but was curious! Just buy a damn house!!!

The living room furniture is a little too big for the space. It screams for all the attention. The details of the home’s interior are overshadowed by the furniture. Instead of, "ooh that’s creative." It’s more like, "oh, oh yeah, I didn’t see that."
