    Hickory bark works similarly. Fold a hawthorne spike in a loop, then shove into an earthworm, then go fishing. Bird bones can be used as fish hooks, too.

    Btw this can work with any material that is long and thin and fiberous… You could do it with hair, grass, torn clothes, you could do this with thin strong to make thick string
