DIY Stone Ledger Tile Kitchen Backsplash

DIY Stone Ledger Tile Kitchen Backsplash

STONE LEDGER KITCHEN BACKSPLASH – In this video, I am installing stone ledger tile to my kitchen backsplash. I am installing it with modified thinset over drywall. The instructions for the tile that I am using states that it can be installed on drywall at a height of 10 feet or shorter. Other tiles might have different requirements and have to be installed over cement backer board.

Now that you have had it for a while, how do you like it? Do you find that it is difficult to clean?

  3. @erichayslett7004 on June 11, 2025 at 3:24 pm

Good video. But I cringed when I saw you cutting the tile with the wet saw and no eye protection… please please please wear eye protection next time.

  7. @leejordan001 on June 11, 2025 at 3:31 pm

How will you clean all the grease from it? You won’t be able. A very bad choice for kitchen. Otherwise nice work just in the wrong place.

  8. @nyhalo787 on June 11, 2025 at 3:32 pm

You need to wear PPE when cutting any materials. Your eyes, lungs and skin will absorb the dust particles from cutting the tiles.

  9. @rickfrenzy9556 on June 11, 2025 at 3:32 pm

How do you keep them shits clean? Just dust them once in awhile?

How heavy are these panels? I got one to try to patch my wall where a tv mount was installed but it feels so heavy. Around 12-15 lbs a panel. Is it safe to install directly onto drywall at that weight?

    Thumbs up!

So much work and such a great job going over everything dear… but wall board is not the best choice for a heavy tile like thatl…hardy backerboard or fiber reinforced cement panel would be better. It’s in the tile section. Drywall might hold because it shouldnt get too wet … it’s okay when they start falling off you can just use an angle grinder to get off all that mortar and then put your hardy bakerboard then retile

Great job. Wear goggles next time. 😉

  27. @SeanInAlaska on June 11, 2025 at 3:49 pm

Beautiful job! I am getting ready to do this behind my woodstove and you answered every one of my questions!

  28. @MarkN-k7c on June 11, 2025 at 3:49 pm

That look horrible, with the lighting looks like 2 different color tiles.

  29. @AJAllen31 on June 11, 2025 at 3:53 pm

Do you have to use a special outlet box so a protrudes out past the stone? I’m redoing my kitchen now and I’m curious about how I’ll get the outlets in the box if I’ve got half an inch of stone poking out.

  30. @KCarliStrings on June 11, 2025 at 3:54 pm

    It’s amazing! I’m inspired!

  31. @workingfire1962 on June 11, 2025 at 3:55 pm

    Thank you !

  32. @tawnyr24 on June 11, 2025 at 3:55 pm

What kind of tile saw did you use for this?

  33. @craighall2819 on June 11, 2025 at 3:55 pm

Looks great but it will be hard to clean around stove area grease and oil

  34. @newry123 on June 11, 2025 at 3:55 pm

Should the corners not be interlocked so there’s not a continuous line

  35. @policani on June 11, 2025 at 3:56 pm

That looks amazing, but I imagine it’s also very difficult to keep clean.

  36. @BigLarryMacolly-eb5hh on June 11, 2025 at 3:56 pm

Use clear silicone, looks more natural

  40. @mikechandler236 on June 11, 2025 at 4:05 pm

If you are a cleaning fanatic then do not use stone as a backsplash for your kitchen or your life will be a nightmare

  41. @Bbtexas185 on June 11, 2025 at 4:07 pm

    It looks beautiful!

  42. @nathanlockhart3758 on June 11, 2025 at 4:11 pm

I’m considering doing this to my kitchen. How is it holding up? My biggest concern is cleaning it! lol If you had to do it again, would you still go with that style of tile?

  43. @garyappel7053 on June 11, 2025 at 4:11 pm

I would put tape over the plugs to keep thin set out.

  44. @JohnWells-bn7yl on June 11, 2025 at 4:12 pm

We are getting ready to install the same stone (different color) for our backsplash. This was an EXCELLENT explanation on how to install. Thank you for posting this!
