A Legendary Frontiersman Says Goodbye to Alaska

A Legendary Frontiersman Says Goodbye to Alaska

New Jersey native Bob Harte is infamous across Alaska’s interior for surviving more brushes with death than just about anyone in the wilderness. Bob has survived gunshot wounds, plane crashes and wildlife attacks during 40 years of isolated living in the bush. Declining health due to a battle with cancer has led Bob to a difficult decision. He must leave his remote home to seek the medical care he needs. As Bob says goodbye to Alaska, he talks about his big plans for the future and the next chapter of his life.

This show ain’t the same without Bob. This was a true man! I’m from Serbia, but because of him and Heimo I wish I’m there. Rip Bob

I didn’t know him, but I loved him.

  7. @JTW05 on August 2, 2025 at 7:24 pm

So sad. Loved watching Bob, Heimo and Edna and the rest but they were my favs.

Watching a rerun in 2022, the episode where Nancy went out to visit Bob when he was sick, the first time she had been back to camp in 20+ years. You could see Bob knew that his time living out bush was coming to an end and Nancy coming out with the feast she brought, they all knew it would be their last time together out where he loved it the most. Very touching.

    Rest Easy Bob. Respect Earned!

You are missed BOB HARTE. You are my favorite cast member. So sad to see you leave this world, but your spirit will always be in your cabin and around the woods, and your trap lines. God bless you BOB

  16. @alleycat8270 on August 2, 2025 at 7:30 pm

Sorry but I found Bob to be a bit depressing, very maudlin, MAUDLIN!, bumbling and mumbling, the show caught him in major decline in his life…..

  17. @Growingdopamine818 on August 2, 2025 at 7:31 pm

R.i.p bob. Probably my favorite one off this whole show.

Sad about Bob Harte’s passing in 2017. He was an interesting character who carved out a life for himself in the wilderness. I admire that. I don’t think I could have done that, even in my 20’s. Heimo and Edna are left of those who have been there since the 1970’s. I hope they are able to continue to live that life.

  31. @melissahoney8317 on August 2, 2025 at 7:49 pm

I don’t understand why is he want to do all that stuff now that he knows he’s dying instead of wasting his life staying in one place he should have already done all that

  32. @tshgrkaybry6708 on August 2, 2025 at 7:49 pm

I hope he fulfilled his dreams and seen and done everything he wanted before he passed away.

  36. @jimjordan5630 on August 2, 2025 at 7:50 pm

I think I enjoyed his segment more than any of the others. And when he left the show there became a void that no one else could fill. And when I learned of his passing, well, it was like I had lost a member of my family. R.I.P. Bob, and prayers for your family that you loved so much!

  37. @rodneylacy on August 2, 2025 at 7:51 pm

Life is so unfair, here is a guy who toughed it out and in the end he had to leave the place he loved. It is a difficult thing to watch.

  38. @marthawilson8839 on August 2, 2025 at 7:51 pm

He was a wonderful person & his death tore me up!!

  39. @danielthomas3127 on August 2, 2025 at 7:51 pm
