You might want to keep the snow off of the top of the fuel tank, before it become aice, Do you refill from the Top, if it’s frozen, you’ll never refill it when you need to
It looks really cozy. I would have expected thicker walls really. You do not seem to have thick curtains for the windows. That might help too with keeping a comfier inner climate

Ok so its a rented dry cabin and you run a toyo heater. How about a 500 to 1000 litre corrugated steel rainwater tank, Stainless would be nice galvanised ok plastic half the price. Get it off the ground, Insulate it with rockwool and clad it again with steel flashing and duct the exhaust from the toyo though the tank from 12 o’clock to 6 o’clock with stainless 50mm stainless tube and if you cant keep that water above freezing point I’d be surprised. although its 38ยฐc here today. Good luck.

Maybe a kerosene heater that you keep outside (with some fuel) just in case you need it… Good ones are safe around adults and very reliable – no one could really complain if you had an emergency and needed it as a backup heat source. Seems like a nifty little cabin!
When I visit Alaska my husband’s family lives there everybody has a boiler heater outside if you don’t have one you will spend so much money for electricity.
I’m guessing you do not use central heating and radiators as the pipes would probably freeze! So just heating the air directly from the combustion makes sense.

Sheep creek rd. or up the Steese? I LOVE Alaska! Winters -60, Summers a VERY nice 70-90(sometimes), lots of skeeters, occasionally a moose will step out in front of you, might get lucky and actually see a wolf or fox, might get luckier and find a big gold nugget out in the dredge tailings by the Chatinika River out by Oleโs (undoubtedly gone now). Getting too old to go back and see what itโs like today. Glad to see some things havenโt changed.
