I suggest tights for under your jeans. Don’t neglect layers for your lower half. I went in May and we had some cold days.

  2. @genericwatcher2439 on February 18, 2025 at 6:58 pm

I almost don’t want to go to Alaska, feels like if you don’t do tons of research, you are risking a massively expensive vacation that sucks. Between travel, cruise, excursions, it will probably cost me close to $10,000 to go to Alaska. I’ve watched hours and hours of videos and I am still confused what ports are the must haves and what ports are a waste of time, sooooo many opinions!

  3. @georginareta1307 on February 18, 2025 at 6:59 pm

Love this video, thank you so much. Me and my husband going in May 2025. 🥰👍

Just went to Alaska in May on NCL, wasn’t very happy with how far out the ship docked, and all of the shuttling time.

  5. @raquelshiman3092 on February 18, 2025 at 6:59 pm

    Very helpful going in September

  6. @bleumustang6362 on February 18, 2025 at 7:00 pm

What a lovely video thank you so much For all your great information I will be going to Alaska in three weeks. I’m super excited.!!

  7. @colleenedgett3196 on February 18, 2025 at 7:02 pm

We live in Nova scotia so cold is not unusual but nice weather more often than not is the norm these days for May

  8. @lokicooper4690 on February 18, 2025 at 7:03 pm

Just got back last month from Alaska on HAL’s Zaandam. We lucked out on having fantastic weather, sunny every day. Temps were in the mid-50s sometimes reaching low 60s (around 10-16C).

Which side for your room? What you said is correct, however, if you’re taking a one-way trip from Seattle, you want to be on the Starboard side. One way from the north, port side. Round trip doesn’t matter because one side sees it going up, and the other going back down.

I will say, you get better viewing for longer on both sides if you take the inside passage (leave from Vancouver), than if you don’t.

We spent time on our balcony, the deck, and the Crow’s Nest while in Glacier Bay. Each had its benefits, and none were bad.

Also totally agree about booking excursions from just the cruise line. My friend snd I only had one excursion (Tracy Arm fjord) booked through HAL, and our friends booked two (one in Ketchikan). The rest of our excursions were through third parties. Great excursions.

Fantastic time overall, and loved every minute of it.

I’m taking my 76yo mother on an 11 day / 10 night Alaskan Princess Cruise, May of 2025. I’m surprising her with the tickets for her birthday in November. It’ll be her first cruise, and our first time to Alaska for either of us. This is a dream trip she’s wanted to go on for years!! I hope she’s happy and that we have a great time. I’m thinking that we will with all of these great tips your channel has graciously put together! 😊 Thank you so much!

  13. @norinechang2564 on February 18, 2025 at 7:07 pm

Wait, what’s wrong with the Juneau kiosks in your thumbnail? I got the impression they save you a bit of money especially if you just want to take a bus to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

  14. @darlenebrown3993 on February 18, 2025 at 7:10 pm

My husband and I are going in September of 25. My celebration of retiring from a long standing job. So can’t wait.

Do you think we need to bring at least 1 pair of shorts? I feel like it’s gona be cold and wet.

  22. @sunsetrescue7112 on February 18, 2025 at 7:20 pm

Went on One Alaska Cruise with Celebrity on the first week of September and it was amazing. The weather was so perfect that when we got to the glacier the Captain called for all available hands on deck to see how beautiful it was. Yup the crew you never would see came up and was in Aww at how beautiful it was. We did a couple of excursions thru Celebrity and they were ok. When we go back we want to do some things more adventurous. Local restaurants are really stupid crazy expensive. We got off the ship and walked around got some shirts to bring home and went back to the ship. Trust and believe when people say BRING EXTRA SPENDING MONEY because to eat off ship is expensive and excursions are much higher than on Caribbean cruises. ✌🏼

  23. @anakerose on February 18, 2025 at 7:21 pm

We went in 2022 and I was disappointed with all the HUGE ships in port. Way too many people. Smaller ships are the way to go. These big ships have no place in Alaska IMHO.

  24. @FraserAtSea on February 18, 2025 at 7:27 pm

It’s a really good point about it really not mattering which side of the ship you book your cabin on. I actually cruised Alaska in an Inside cabin as it was just far too expensive for me to book a balcony, so I spent most of my time wandering around the deck, and felt it was amazing to be mobile on your scenic cruising days – the scenery is all absolutely unbelievable!

  25. @lindapeterson3613 on February 18, 2025 at 7:27 pm

I just got back from an Alaska cruise. Biggest mistake was going on Norwegian. The port stops were too short and WiFi that was paid for never worked.

  26. @cjohnedds6918 on February 18, 2025 at 7:31 pm

Great tips, Sheri! Especially the one on choosing the right itinerary. This August is our 2nd Alaska cruise. My first was a round trip from Seattle and that limited our time in port. Our stop in Victoria BC was only 3 hours and we arrived at 8 pm. We didn’t bother getting off the ship

  27. @CarolynDevery on February 18, 2025 at 7:32 pm

Thank you for this, but I’m still not going to OVERPRICED Alaska!!!!

  28. @mattmerchant3543 on February 18, 2025 at 7:35 pm

Great tips! We are going on a 28 day Alaskan cruise in 2025 with Hal.

  29. @donm4452 on February 18, 2025 at 7:35 pm

We are excited for EVERYTHING! Never been there before and planned for a couple years. You were right about the cost of this trip and excursions, we could have taken 3 week long trips to the Caribbean for what Alaska is costing! Thanks for all the tips on your videos!

  30. @amysharp2473 on February 18, 2025 at 7:36 pm

Great video! Finally rescheduled our 2020 Alaska cruise and went in May! Thankfully we’ve been watching you all this time and we were totally prepared. Thanks, Sheri!!!

  31. @susanaragonot-marsh8223 on February 18, 2025 at 7:37 pm

We went to Alaska with Royal Caribbean and weather is perfect it was May and cruise ship was good and we’re happy

  32. @Gaming_GuruX0 on February 18, 2025 at 7:37 pm

We are leaving in an hour. (Leaving from Seattle) for a 9 day Alaskan Cruise. Pretty excited about It!

Don’t see your travel agent info

  34. @88razztazz on February 18, 2025 at 7:39 pm

    Absolute knockout !!!!

  35. @davidperrott4502 on February 18, 2025 at 7:42 pm

First cruise in a couple of weeks, no idea what to expect.

  36. @zenkakuji3776 on February 18, 2025 at 7:42 pm

Great info for an Alaska cruise. Since the majority of ports on the itinerary will be in the USA, I would also recommend checking if your cell phone service provider is available at the ports you will be visiting. If you are okay with having access to your phone just during those daytime port stops, it may be a way to reduce your trip costs and not get the onboard WiFi package. When the ship leaves port, put it back on airplane mode so there’s no surprise charge for remote or roving connections while away from land.

  37. @joelroach416 on February 18, 2025 at 7:46 pm

Packing will be crazy for my cruise in May 2025. Begins in Port Canaveral and ends in Anchorage. There are so many great things to see in Alaska, money permitting, but at the very least get off the ship and walk around. The small towns have a special charm to them.

  38. @HappyLife-w3f on February 18, 2025 at 7:48 pm

This will be my 3rd Alaskan cruise. 1st in 1998 Vancouver to Anchorage, 2022 round trip Seattle, would not recommend . Next in 30 days, August 2024 Vancouver to anchorage plus 4 days in anchorage! My mom and dad went on the 1st cruise with us and now this August mom will be 89 and a new widow and she is so excited to go again and she is sharing a balcony room with my son, her first grandchild! This time we will be able to afford more excursions!,

  39. @LilZeeka on February 18, 2025 at 7:48 pm

Hi Sheri! I’m planning an Alaskan cruise and am torn between Princess and Royal Carribean. It’s going to be 3 adults and 2 kids(5&9yrs). Do you have any suggestions on which we should choose?

  40. @LeiaBushman on February 18, 2025 at 7:49 pm

Great tips! Can you tell me where you got that green dress? 🤩😂😍

  41. @mariangomz7919 on February 18, 2025 at 7:52 pm

If you are doing a one way, like we are, it does matter where your balcony is. Also if you are traveling on a bigger ship that doesn’t go through the inside passage and you’d like to see the scenery as it goes north, it also matters.

  42. @thejokerspeaks on February 18, 2025 at 7:53 pm

Don’t feel the grizzly bears, charge at a moose, or do a polar blunge off the balcony. I learned the hard way so that everyone else doesn’t have to.

  43. @icedteamama176 on February 18, 2025 at 7:55 pm

Very helpful video! Thank you! 😊

  44. @bethflanagan76 on February 18, 2025 at 7:55 pm
