I actually prefer to use a break in oil for baseball gloves to condition new boots. Just massage it in and go. Protects and softens without drying your boots out. Or a product called "Leather Honey". Works like a hot damn

Military suggests same method for blk shoes worn w/dress blues. Worked w/wet socks in hot water, worn for 1 hr in yr perimeter , stuff newspaper after taking off shoes, into those shoes and use THEN the hair dryer til slightly damp. Retry with normal dry pair of socks for secure fitting. Polish/oil 1st coat, leave em to dry all the way or blow dry if in a rush. 2nd coat of polish/ oil to shine
