Bookmatched Butcher Blocks

Bookmatched Butcher Blocks

Heirloom Series End Grain Butcher Blocks – The 1st full production video to come out of the new shop!
YouTube has lead us on this crazy journey – Hobby to Manufacturing part 2.

Part 1 was putting this shop together and getting it fired up, https://youtu.be/uXLUxH0-EOU.

Part 2 here is the shop in full motion while I try to figure things out and have my grand opening to the local public here in Eagle River Alaska.

13 months ago we put out the video Hobby to Business part 2 (4 million views). A documentary of sorts of our journey.

Production of this shop consists of cutting boards, butcher blocks, cheese boards, coasters, tables, countertops and more.

Dec 27 2020- The video that set things in motion to go from a once a year hobby batch of boards in my tiny shop.

We started producing product in the new shop early Dec 2021

The two videos that solidified going from a hobby to business to now having the facility and customer base that we have now. Part 1 and 2

I started to make a lot of custom/unique end grain cutting boards since I was 17 years old. I enjoy this hobby a lot when the weather is nice such as spring and summer. The boards that you make are beautiful 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

How can I order one of your butcher blocks

  3. @bradvicam on July 5, 2025 at 5:04 pm

I ran and cared for a 60” dual head wide belt sander from about 1985 to 1991, it was constant maintenance, don’t know how many times I resurfaced the platen. Was constantly adjusting the belt centering air controls. But the quality of what you are able to do with them is worth all the effort!

Do You Use Any Scrapwood For Breadboards & Coasters?

  9. @BuhdaPunk on July 5, 2025 at 5:11 pm

Q: What is the red wood has a nice clank when you drop the strips on the table? Wonder if it would make a good tone board. "Music instruments such as acoustic guitars"?

  10. @seeuonthetrack on July 5, 2025 at 5:11 pm

Just wow, everything you do is to such an amazing standard and quality, even down to the way you lovingly package your boards off to their new homes 🤩👏❤

I love the long forms watching you work so hard. You sir are what small business is all about. You’re an inspiration to anyone and everyone. Your heart and soul is in it to win it from beginning to end. I get choked up seeing how beautiful your products turn out. Keep up the great work you do. Yes passions turn into a full time job but then become a passion again later in life. Daily grinds are always a toll on the mind, body, and soul, but always the ends justify the means. Seeing the smiles on faces of customers that send you videos are what it’s all about. I’ll be checking out your website soon and regardless how long I’ve to wait I want a piece of history from you regardless how often I use it because when I look at it I’ll know a true craftsman is and was passionate about his work. Thank you.

I am building a end grain cutting board. I flattened it and started sanding it and noticed it was starting to cup. Why is it doing this?

  38. @philipyourno7540 on July 5, 2025 at 5:48 pm

Very nice work!!! Quick question. Are your suppliers sourcing these woods sustainably? I’m thinking about the wenge, for example.

  42. @andrewlipic8414 on July 5, 2025 at 5:54 pm

Did you find that the exotic woods needed to be wiped with something like acetone or mineral spirits before gluing due to their oils?

  43. @shoniaray8503 on July 5, 2025 at 5:56 pm

Stunning they are not just cutting boards they are works of art

  44. @RolandVollmar on July 5, 2025 at 5:56 pm

I see only one problem with these awesome boards. They’re HOLY! How can one put a knive to this beauty. Well done sir and greets from GER

  45. @BuhdaPunk on July 5, 2025 at 5:59 pm

When you are doing the large units just wondering if it would be better to glue in quarters segments then 4 segments together. I know it sounds like extra work but might help with it setting up the glue too quick or losing the book match.

  46. @dutchtennhard2860 on July 5, 2025 at 5:59 pm

    I’m impressed the journey

  47. @noolaiphx8189 on July 5, 2025 at 6:00 pm

Kris, those are not cutting boards, they are pieces of art.

  48. @Docstantinople on July 5, 2025 at 6:01 pm

What an awesome set up you have here. I just stumbled upon your video of the butcher block restoration tonight and then after that it automatically started playing this vid. Awesome cutting boards.
