Lab-grown Foam in Anchorage

A group of researchers at the University of Alaska Anchorage are using locally-grown mushrooms to produce blocks of foam-like insulation. Professor Philippe Amstislavski, Maria D. White, and fellow researchers are hoping to create a commercially viable and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional forms of insulation on the market today.
